A Seasonal Marketing Calendar for Home Service Businesses in Southeastern Pennsylvania

When to promote furnace tune-ups, AC service, roofing, gutters, sump pumps and more, based on how the seasons actually play out in Montgomery County and the surrounding area.

Contractor building a timber frame

Demand for home services in Southeastern Pennsylvania follows the weather. Cold, damp winters, spring rain and thaw, hot humid summers and leaf-heavy autumns all create predictable waves of calls. The businesses that stay busy year-round are the ones that market a few weeks ahead of each wave instead of reacting once the phones are already ringing for everyone.

Here is a practical, season-by-season calendar for contractors in Montgomery, Chester, Bucks, Berks, Delaware, Philadelphia and Lehigh counties. Adjust the timing for your own trade and your history of calls.

Late winter (January to early March)

Homeowners are dealing with the cold and thinking about spring projects.

  • HVAC: no-heat calls are still coming in. Make sure your emergency service is easy to find on your website and Google Business Profile.
  • Plumbing: frozen and burst pipes. Publish a short guide on preventing frozen pipes and what to do if one bursts. It is helpful content people search for in a hurry.
  • Remodelers and roofers: people start planning spring projects. This is a good time for "book now for spring" campaigns and to refresh your project photos.
  • Everyone: plan your year, set your ad budgets by season and line up content before you get busy.

Spring (March to May)

Thaw, heavy rain and the first warm days drive a burst of activity.

  • Basement waterproofing and plumbing: spring rain and melting snow mean wet basements. Promote sump pump checks, sump pump replacement, battery backups and waterproofing before the heavy rain arrives.
  • Roofing and gutters: winter damage shows up. Offer roof inspections and gutter repairs.
  • HVAC: start promoting AC tune-ups in April and May, before the first heat wave creates a backlog.
  • Landscaping, hardscaping and exterior work: peak planning season. Make sure your quote request process is fast.

Summer (June to August)

Heat and humidity take over.

  • HVAC: AC repair and replacement peak. Prioritize fast response and consider pausing lower-value ads if you are fully booked so you are not paying for leads you cannot serve.
  • Plumbing: summer storms can mean sewer backups and sump pump failures.
  • Exterior trades: painting, decks, siding and roofing are in full swing. Collect photos and reviews from every finished job for next year's marketing.
  • Electricians: storm season is a good time to talk about surge protection and whole-house generators.

Fall (September to November)

Leaves come down and homeowners prepare for winter.

  • HVAC: promote furnace and heat pump tune-ups in September and October, before the first cold snap. Maintenance plans are easier to sell now than in January.
  • Gutters and roofing: gutter cleaning, gutter guards and roof repairs before winter.
  • Plumbing: outdoor faucet winterizing and water heater checks.
  • Chimney and fireplace services: inspections and cleanings before people start using them.

Early winter (December)

  • HVAC and plumbing: back to emergency season. Keep your phone answered and your Google hours accurate over the holidays.
  • Snow removal: if you offer it, have your seasonal contracts sold before the first storm.
  • Everyone: review the year. Which months brought the most calls, which services were most profitable and which marketing channels produced booked jobs?

How to use this calendar

  1. Publish seasonal content four to eight weeks early. Search engines need time to find new pages. A guide to sump pump maintenance published in March has a better chance of ranking by the April rains than one published in April.
  2. Shift your ad budget with demand. Spend more ahead of and during your busy season, and less when you are booked solid or during your slowest weeks.
  3. Update your Google Business Profile. Add seasonal posts, photos and offers so your listing looks active.
  4. Email and text past customers. A simple reminder about a seasonal tune-up to people who already trust you is often the cheapest marketing you can do.
  5. Use slow months to fill the calendar. Maintenance plans and off-season discounts can smooth out the dips between peaks.

Plan ahead and stay busy

You cannot control the weather, but you can predict what it will do to your phone. Mark these windows on your calendar, plan your campaigns a month ahead and you will be ready when homeowners start searching.
